Frequently Asked Questions
About the Program

The GROWTH Pastoral Care Program is a six-year, developmentally sequenced pastoral care curriculum for secondary schools, spanning Years 7 to 12.

It provides schools with a clear scope and sequence of ready-to-use lessons that support student wellbeing, character development, identity formation, leadership, and responsibility across adolescence.

GROWTH Education is led by Brendon Gilbert, Andrew Watson, and Chris Beechey, an experienced education leadership team with deep expertise in pastoral care, wellbeing, teaching and learning, and whole-school leadership.

Together, they bring decades of experience working with adolescents and partnering with schools to design and implement consistent, high-impact pastoral care.

Their work spans whole-school wellbeing structures, curriculum design, and strategic school improvement, ensuring GROWTH is both evidence-informed and practical to deliver.

Schools work directly with the GROWTH team, ensuring the program is well-supported, responsive to context, and sustainable over time.

GROWTH is a curriculum, not a collection of wellbeing lessons or short-term initiatives.

It is:

  • Structured and developmentally sequenced from Year 7 to Year 12
  • Intentionally print-based for students
  • Designed by teachers, for teachers
  • Built to reduce teacher workload
  • Focused on meaningful conversation, reflection, and connection
Program Structure

Lessons are designed to fit within a standard mentor, homeroom, or pastoral care session, typically 40–60 minutes.

Schools may adjust pacing to suit their timetable while maintaining the integrity of the lesson structure.

Teacher Resources

Schools receive a combination of digital and physical teacher resources to support confident, consistent delivery.

These include:

  • Lesson PowerPoint presentations
  • An electronic copy of the Teacher Resource Guide
  • A printed hard copy of the Teacher Resource Guide

Each homeroom or mentor teacher also receives a GROWTH box, which contains:

  • The printed Teacher Resource Guide
  • A class set of student booklets for that year level

The GROWTH box keeps all materials together, safe, and easily accessible throughout the year.

Yes.

Schools can choose to implement GROWTH using their own internal Professional Development structures. However, for schools seeking additional support, the GROWTH team offers Professional Development to strengthen implementation. This can support staff confidence, build consistency across year levels, and ensure the program is delivered as intended.

Our Professional Development is practical, relevant, and tailored to each school, allowing us to work in partnership and align with your context, priorities, and staff.

Customisation

Yes. GROWTH is designed as a complete and consistent curriculum, but we recognise that every school context is different.

We work in partnership with schools to thoughtfully adapt elements of the program where appropriate. This may include aligning language with existing values, integrating school structures, or adjusting emphasis to suit your context.

All customisation is developed through direct consultation with the GROWTH team. These professional conversations ensure any adaptations are intentional, practical, and aligned with your school’s needs.

Purchasing

Schools partner with GROWTH on an annual basis.

Once a school confirms implementation, an invoice is issued based on the agreed year levels and student numbers. Booklets are then printed and supplied following payment, along with the teacher resources required for delivery.

All purchasing is managed directly with the GROWTH team, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with each school’s needs.

Yes.

Schools may choose to purchase GROWTH for a single year level or for multiple year levels, depending on their context and priorities. Many schools begin with selected year levels and expand over time.

GROWTH is purchased annually.

Each year, schools receive the resources required to deliver the program for that school year, ensuring materials are current, consistent, and ready to use.

Digital Access

No.

GROWTH is intentionally 100% print-based for students. All student learning, reflection, and discussion takes place within the printed booklets to support focus, connection, and deeper engagement.

Teachers receive:

• Lesson PowerPoint presentations
• An electronic copy of the Teacher Resource Guide

These digital resources support lesson delivery and ease of preparation, while student learning remains print-based.
